Path to a Clean Energy Future

November 11, 20232

Our problems are man-made, therefore they may be solved by man. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings.”

John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States

A Sustainable Future for All of Us: Energy Innovation Meets Pragmatic Solutions

In the face of climate change—a challenge acknowledged by the vast majority of scientists worldwide—we in District 12 are poised to take a leadership role. Recognizing the urgent call for environmental stewardship, my approach unites both traditional and innovative perspectives, appealing to all sides of the political spectrum.

Investments in nuclear energy, lauded for its low emissions, present a significant opportunity for us to reduce our carbon footprint. The newest generation of nuclear reactors, which are designed to minimize waste and enhance safety, can provide vast amounts of clean energy (International Atomic Energy Agency, 2023). Alongside this, we are witnessing a surge in renewable energy deployment, with wind and solar power now accounting for a sizeable portion of new electricity generation capacity in the United States (U.S. Energy Information Administration, 2022).

However, a transition of this scale is a marathon, not a sprint. Oil and gas remain pivotal to our current infrastructure, supporting countless jobs and contributing significantly to our local economy. As we navigate the path towards a cleaner future, these resources will continue to be part of a diversified energy strategy. This ensures we manage a responsible and gradual shift, maintaining economic stability while investing in the necessary advancements to move us toward renewable and nuclear energy sources. Our district understands that environmental policy is economic policy. It’s about jobs, health, and the legacy we leave for our children. We stand for an all-of-the-above energy plan that secures energy independence, drives economic growth, and confronts the pressing reality of climate change with the urgency it deserves.

In District 12, our shared belief is in action that brings us together—action that transcends party lines and ideology. We stand united in our commitment to a balanced, pragmatic approach to our environmental challenges, which resonates with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike. It’s an approach that acknowledges the reality of climate change and meets it with practical solutions that work for all of us. Together, we will advocate for and implement a comprehensive plan that not only confronts the urgent issues of climate change head-on but also taps into the rich vein of American ingenuity and the storied work ethic that has long been our country’s hallmark. Our goal is clear: to lead the world in the development of clean and sustainable energy sources, creating jobs, and secure a healthy planet for future generations.

I’m very interested to see more from you and your stances on controversial topics. I think running as a Democrat despite having a very middle-of-the road mindset is commendable. I supported Trey Hunt last time he ran, and am going into this election season intending on doing so again but there is a long way to go until the election. I hope you come get to know us in Parker acounty
